General advices when purchasing SIM cards

  • In Spain, you'll need to provide some kind of ID, this is required by law.
  • Make sure your smartphone is not "locked" by your telecommunications company
  • You can always check at the airport too, some have places where you can buy SIM cards too
  • Try to pay in cash, or with a pre-paid credit card, this way you won't be charged for those pre-paid cards that try to recharge automatically monthly
  • As usual, try to connect to Free WIFIs to lower your data consumption
  • Make sure the provider of pre-paid cards supports mini-SIM card format if you need it
